We are excited to announce the launch of our inaugural camp at our Aerospace Centre located at Grand Central Airport.
Dates: October 4 and 5 ( Online sessions), October 6 to 9 (In-person activities at the GFA Aerospace Centre)
Format: This is a daily camp that will run from October 4 to 9, and it is important to note that it is non-residential. Participants will engage in a variety of interactive workshops, discussions, and hands-on activities related to aviation and aerospace, providing an immersive experience in these exciting fields.
About
The camp offers immersive aviation and aerospace experiences for high school students in Grades 8 to 11 during International Space Week. Through hands-on activities, our goal is to inspire, engage, educate, and connect young women with careers in aviation and aerospace.
This year’s camp will specifically focus on aviation and sustainability through programs in redesign, repurposing, and restoration. Under the guidance of industry professionals, participants will collaborate to design and create educational tools by repurposing aircraft parts, restoring model aeroplanes, designing airport structures, designing space habitats and more.
Participants will:
– Gain hands-on experience in aerospace design and engineering
– Enhance their understanding of the aviation industry and the various career paths available
– Develop critical teamwork and problem-solving skills
– Cultivate a greater awareness of innovative and sustainable practices within the industry
The educational tools produced during this project will aim to inspire future learners, effectively bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications.
